This project involves several departments at the University of Vienna. It aims at identifying similarities and differences in the way subject didactics is seen, and is being taught in more than ten different subjects which all can be studied at the University of Vienna. Moreover, common conceptions (paradigms) and fundamental differences of different subject didactics are wanted to be identified, analyzed and reformulated in a preferably general way.

The field investigations in certain lectures concerning subject didactics given at the University of Vienna are carried out by young researchers, who will get the opportunity to write their diploma thesis in this field. In this regard the platform is also established to support young academics in gaining ground in scientific subject didactics.

The project is scheduled for three years and will commence on May 15, 2009.
