Abstract. In 1950's F. Hirzebruch introduced a subtle notion of genus depending on a parameter y and generalized Todd classes (called now Hirzebruch classes) and proved a generalized Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem.
The result in the case of y=0 is the well-known Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch-Theorem. In the talk I will explain some recent results on "motivic Hirzebruch classes" defined via relative Grothendieck groups of algebraic varieties and some related topics.
